Can Hearing Aids Cause Damage Or Further Hearing Loss

Can Hearing Aids Cause Damage Or Further Hearing Loss

Before using or purchasing hearing aids, a common concern we often encounter is, "Will wearing hearing aids lead to further hearing loss or damage?" To this, ELEHEAR can provide a clear answer: Of course not. The primary goal of hearing aids is to make soft sounds clear and audible, ensure comfortable levels for normal conversation, and prevent discomfort from loud noises. The maximum output of hearing aids is set by audiologists and manufacturers. When loud sounds are detected, the hearing aids automatically suppress them to prevent excessive amplification. With the continuous advancement of digital hearing aids, we are now able to adjust more sounds within a comfortable range, thus avoiding further damage to hearing. After wearing hearing aids for many years, we occasionally hear comments like, "I feel like my hearing has declined." This may be due to the brain adapting to better hearing provided by the hearing aids. Similar to prescription glasses, over time, our brains become dependent on this correction, and when we remove it, our brains miss it! Hearing sensitivity does not decrease. Instead, our brains miss the input they are accustomed to receiving while wearing hearing aids. In fact, using hearing aids not only does not lead to further hearing loss but also brings more benefits. For example, using hearing aids to treat hearing loss may be a safe and effective strategy to reduce the risk of cognitive decline and dementia in vulnerable populations. Given the treatability of hearing loss, it can serve as an important public health objective for mitigating cognitive decline and dementia risk. Furthermore, using hearing aids can also help improve the overall quality of life for older adults. Follow ELEHEAR to find out more: Reducing the Risk of Premature Death Among Individuals with Hearing Loss A study published in The Lancet Healthy Longevity journal suggests that adults in the United States who regularly use hearing aids are significantly less likely to die prematurely compared to those who never use hearing aids. The research findings indicate that individuals with hearing loss who regularly use hearing aids have a 24% lower risk of premature death, regardless of factors such as age, gender, socioeconomic status, race, insurance type, severity of hearing loss, and other medical conditions. Furthermore, the risk of premature death tends to increase with the severity of hearing loss. Hearing Aids Can Lower the Risk of Dementia Compared to their peers with normal hearing, individuals with hearing loss face a 42% increased risk of developing dementia. However, this risk is not elevated among those who use hearing aids. This study, conducted following the 2020 Lancet Commission report on dementia, which suggested that hearing loss may be associated with about 8% of dementia cases worldwide. The data also suggests that the protective effect of hearing aids against dementia may stem directly from their impact rather than indirect factors such as social isolation, loneliness, and depression. All in all, the evidence is clear: regular use of hearing aids not only reduces the risk of premature death among individuals with hearing loss but also helps lower the risk of developing dementia. These findings underscore the importance of addressing hearing loss proactively and incorporating hearing aids into one's daily routine. Why Receiver in Canal (RIC) Hearing Aids Are Worth the Extra Investment Over Completely in Canal (CIC) Models

Why Receiver in Canal (RIC) Hearing Aids Are Worth the Extra Investment Over Completely in Canal (CIC) Models

When choosing a hearing aid, many factors come into play, including the severity of hearing loss, comfort, and lifestyle needs. While both Completely in Canal (CIC) and Receiver in Canal (RIC) models have their merits, RIC hearing aids often provide greater benefits, justifying their typically higher cost. This article explores why investing in RIC models can be a more advantageous choice for many users. Understanding the Limitations of CIC Hearing Aids  Inadequate Noise Reduction One of the biggest challenges for hearing aid users is unwanted noise amplification. CIC hearing aids, with their limited size, often fall short in advanced noise cancellation technology. This deficiency can lead to a frustrating hearing experience, with users struggling to focus on conversations amidst intrusive background noise.  Compact Size, Compromised Features The small and discreet nature of CIC aids comes at a cost – less room for advanced features and weaker processors. This limitation can affect overall sound quality and performance, particularly in challenging listening environments. Handling and Connectivity Issues CIC aids can be difficult to handle due to their small size, posing challenges for users with dexterity issues. They also often lack the connectivity options available in larger models, restricting the user's ability to integrate with other devices.   The Compelling Advantages of RIC Hearing Aids Exceptional Noise Management RIC hearing aids excel in reducing background noise, a critical aspect for most users. They are equipped with more powerful processors and sophisticated technology, allowing for a clearer, more focused listening experience. This feature is particularly valuable in noisy settings, helping to protect the ears from damaging noise exposure. Superior Technology and Performance RIC models are designed to offer top-notch sound quality and effective noise reduction, suitable for a wide range of hearing loss levels, including more severe cases. Their advanced technology ensures a more natural and comfortable hearing experience.  Comfort and Usability RIC aids are generally more comfortable and easier to handle, making them a practical choice for daily wear. Their user-friendly design is particularly beneficial for individuals with limited dexterity.  Enhanced Connectivity and Flexibility RIC models come with the added advantage of wireless connectivity, allowing users to seamlessly connect with smartphones, TVs, and other devices. This connectivity enhances the overall usability and integration into daily life.  Long-Term Investment Although RIC hearing aids may be slightly more expensive than CIC models, they are a worthwhile investment. Given that hearing aids are typically worn all day, every day, it's crucial to choose a model that not only aids in hearing but also protects the ears from further damage. The superior noise management and comfort provided by RIC models make them a more sensible investment in the long run.   Conclusion  While CIC hearing aids offer discretion, the benefits of RIC models, particularly in terms of noise reduction, technology, and comfort, make them a superior choice for most users. The slightly higher cost of RIC hearing aids is a worthwhile investment considering their enhanced capabilities and the importance of protecting the ears from noise exposure. As with any hearing aid selection, consultation with an audiologist is key to finding the best fit for individual needs and lifestyle. In the end, investing in the right hearing aid is an investment in quality of life.

Hearing Aid Care & Maintenance 101 : A checklist on cleaning and caring for your hearing device

Maintaining your hearing aid through regular cleaning and care is essential for its longevity and optimal performance. By implementing daily maintenance routines, you can minimize the likelihood of malfunctions and the need for frequent repairs. Here's a comprehensive guide that ELEHEAR offer to help you uphold the functionality of your hearing aid. Follow our checklist for maintenance: Earmold and tubes: Inspect the earmold and tubes regularly to detect any blockages or cracks. If you notice wax or debris in the earmold, utilize the removal tool provided with your hearing aid to delicately clear the obstruction.  Case: Inspect the hearing aid casing for any signs of damage, such as cracks, fractures in the battery door, or exposed wires. If you observe any damage to the device casing, it's important to notify your audiologist or consult the retailer where you purchased the hearing aid for assistance. Sound: You need to perform a daily check on your hearing aid to ensure it's functioning correctly. Verify that the sound is accurate and clear, free from static or distortion. Utilize the hearing aid' s stethoscope attachment and articulate sounds like "uu," "ee," "aa," "sh," "s," and "f." Assess if they are distinctly audible and clear. Additionally, if your hearing aid features volume control (though not present on all hearing aids), adjust it up and down to verify the sound clarity and functionality of the device. Clean your hearing aidsTo maintain your hearing aid, use moist wipes without alcohol to clean its surface. Alcohol can harm the hydrophobic coating, which is sensitive to it. For cleaning, you can use wet wipes or a cotton cloth with a mild soap solution. Guidance on Maintain Your Hearing Aid for Extended Usage Avoid Moisture Exposure: It is recommended to refrain from getting your hearing aids wet. Avoid using them in the shower or during heavy rain. By proactively addressing FAQs, we hope to enhance your experience with our App and streamline your journey towards optimal hearing health. Now let's dive into the most frequently asked questions. How can the (Hearing assistance) App enhance my experience with hearing aids? The ELEHEAR App can easily offers unique personalized options that allow you to take control of your hearing health while seamlessly adapting to your lifestyle. You can personalize your hearing experience by adjusting volume and noise reduction level, switching mode and other settings for specific listening situations that meet your unique needs.   How do I know how to program my hearing aids? Per the results of your hearing test information, we will recommend a specific hearing loss level for you to set your hearing aids, in the ‘Adjust’ page of your App.  If things sound far too loud, and you’re lowering your volume control all the way down to ‘1’, you will want to drop-down a hearing loss level.  If you aren’t hearing well enough, and have tried increasing your volume control, you can elevate your hearing loss level.     Can I adjust individual frequencies? There are three frequency equalizers available in the mobile App.  Once you’ve selected your hearing loss level on the ‘Adjust’ page, you can click the ‘edit’ button off to the right to access them (pencil-inside-circle button).  The OceanWave sound adjuster will lower or elevate the bass frequencies.  This can help with own-voice issues, or help to make music sound more full.  The WorldSound adjuster controls the mid-frequencies, and will help give clarity and distinction to spoken voice.  The BirdChirping sound adjuster will lower or elevate the treble frequencies.  This will help with the tinniness/sharpness/feedback a user may be experiencing.   Why can’t I re-connect to the App? If you have not utilized the bluetooth connection between your phone and hearing aids for some time, or if you have physically walked away from your smart-phone, the bluetooth connection will be temporarily suspended.  This is to save your hearing aids from excessive battery drain.  To reconnect to the bluetooth, simply turn your hearing aids off, then on again.  Press and hold the volume UP button on the back of your hearing aids until the aids power off.  Then press and hold again until they are re-connected. Visit here for video tutorial.   What are the main differences between the Four ‘Modes’? The two major differences between the four environmental modes, or programs, are how much noise-reduction is active, and what the microphone directionality is set-up to receive. The General and Restaurant modes have higher noise-reduction rates, while the Outdoor and TV modes are quite low.  The Restaurant and TV modes are directional (forward focused), while the General and Outdoor modes are not.   I’m experiencing feedback/whistling. After we verify you have the proper ear-dome to manage feedback, we may have you lower the BirdChirping adjuster to lower the volume of the treble frequencies being produced by the hearing aids.   I don’t like the way I sound. After we verify you have the proper ear-dome to manage occlusion, we may have you lower the OceanWave adjuster, or overall volume, until you can adapt to the sound of your own voice.   If I send you an audiogram, can you program my hearing aids (over the counter) for me? We cannot enter individual, frequency-specific information from an audiogram. But our audiologists can review the results and make suggestions to you on how to set the hearing loss level, and the three frequency adjusters.   What is the ‘Remote Sound Capture’? This feature, when activated, can turn your cell-phone into a transmitting microphone.  It will use bluetooth to transmit the sound signal next to the phone, directly into your hearing aids, so even if you are physically further away from the phone, you won’t miss out on the sound.   What is the dB button? This is a sound-level meter, to give you an idea of the overall sound level of the environment you are in.  It will turn orange if it reaches dangerous levels, so that you can limit your noise exposure.     How do I know if there has been an update to the App? If your phone is set to automatically update the mobile-Apps, you don’t have to do anything. You can always check to see what version of the App you are currently using by clicking the User Icon (upper left), followed by the ‘About’ button.  You can then check if an upgrade is due, by clicking ‘Version upgrade’.   ELEHEAR offers one of best hearing aid products with app control (you can download at google play store app),  and we hope that this article has provided you with valuable insights into the ELEHEAR App and addressed any questions or concerns you may have had. Our team is dedicated to continuously improving our products and services, and your feedback is invaluable to us. Which Hearing Aids is Right for the Seniors?

Which Hearing Aids is Right for the Seniors?

OTC Hearing aids for seniorsOver-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids serve as an excellent remedy for age-related hearing loss, also referred to as presbycusis. They offer a straightforward and efficient solution to address the gradual decline in hearing, impacting 23% of individuals aged 65 to 75, with the prevalence rising to 40% beyond the age of 75. OTC hearing aids enable individuals to regain a significant portion of their hearing, directly enhancing the quality of life for wearers who experience no limitations in their social interactions.   Which Hearing Aids is Right for the Seniors Recommended over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids for seniors are selected based on a specialist's evaluation after a quick and painless hearing check. In cases of identified hearing loss, the choice of OTC hearing aid depends on the recorded degree, as well as the lifestyle and preferences of the user. The most versatile OTC hearing aids suitable for various circumstances related to aging and presbycusis are behind-the-ear hearing aids (BTE). These open-fitting devices are highly adaptable and well-suited to all lifestyles, making them easy to use and ideal for older individuals with associated cognitive or physical issues, including mobility concerns. BTE hearing aids also offer easier maintenance and are less prone to problems related to earwax buildup. However, depending on the severity of hearing loss and user preferences, alternatives like in-ear or invisible hearing aids (ITE) — more suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss — or receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids can be considered. RIC devices transmit sound inside the ear canal through an almost invisible tube, making them a suitable solution for unilateral hearing sensitivity loss. Adapting to hearing aids, regardless of age, entails a period of adjustment. Consequently, a trial period precedes the purchase to ensure the following criteria are met: Hearing aids address the documented hearing requirements. Users experience comfort with their hearing aids. Hearing aids prove practical in daily life. Typically spanning one month, the trial period allows for assessment and collaboration with users to make necessary readjustments. The significance of hearing aids for seniors lies in their transformative impact on the lives of those with hearing loss. Achieving optimal hearing is synonymous with living well. Numerous studies establish a connection between untreated hearing loss and heightened risks of headaches, falls, dementia, depression, and cognitive decline. Additionally, suboptimal hearing often leads, even unconsciously, to the limitation of social interactions and self-isolation, with all the associated consequences. In conclusion, for seniors seeking a transition to enhanced hearing and improved quality of life, ELEHEAR OTC hearing aids stand out as an special choice. Designed with comfort and practicality in mind, these devices cater to the specific needs of older individuals, providing a reliable solution for age-related hearing loss. All the Things You Need to Know About the Symbiotic Relationship Between Quality Sleep and Healthy Hearing!

Every March 21st is celebrated as "World Sleep Day," which also highlighting the connection between sleep and our hearing health. Think about those poor sleep may have implications for hearing health, particularly for individuals who experience insufficient and shallow sleep at night. It's essential for such individuals to be mindful of improving their sleep quality to mitigate potential adverse effects on their hearing. Research Data  A study which published in the prestigious scientific journal Ear and Hearing has provided shows into the connection between sleep quality and the risk of hearing loss among elderly individuals. This research was conducted by Department of Preventive Medicine, Public Health, and Microbiology at the Autonomous University of Madrid, IMDEA Alimentación, and CIBERESP. The research involved an extensive analysis of data collected from 231,650 participants, aged between 38 and 72. The participants provided information on issues related to the duration and quality of their sleep. Additionally, they reported instances of hearing loss during the follow-up period. The results suggest that addressing sleep quality may play a crucial role in mitigating the risk of hearing loss among elderly individuals. This research adds a new dimension to our comprehension of factors influencing hearing health and underscores the importance of holistic approaches to well-being in older adults. Dr. Humberto Yévenes-Briones, a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and co-author of the study, emphasized that the report's conclusions show that "poor sleep quality significantly increases the chance of developing hearing loss." In the future, the risk will increase by up to 49 percent. WHY Have you ever experienced a situation where a lack of good sleep at night led to a diminished sense of hearing the next day? In fact, this is due to the weakening of the central auditory processing function in your brain, affecting your attention to environmental sounds and subsequently impacting your hearing. This is particularly significant for individuals with hearing impairment. If you consistently experience insufficient sleep, the consequences can be even more severe. Moreover, poor sleep, mental stress, and excessive fatigue can lead to spasms in the capillaries of the inner ear, increased blood viscosity, the formation of tiny blood clots, causing disturbances in the inner ear microcirculation and leading to sudden deafness. We often come across news about individuals who develop sudden deafness due to staying up late working, playing games, or binge-watching. How to improve the quality of your sleep ELEHEAR suggest these following way to improve your sleep, if you have sleeping issue, try for few and see the change. ◆ Maintain a consistent sleep schedule. ◆ Spend about half an hour in the sun. ◆ Avoid stimulating beverages like coffee and strong tea in the afternoon. The 411 on OTCs

The 411 on OTCs

According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), there are 40 million adults with documented hearing loss in this country.  Out of that population, only 30% (70 years of age or older) are using hearing aids.  That percentage drops to only 16% of those 20-69 years of age.  If hearing loss is so prevalent, then why are so few people treating it?  Studies have shown that untreated hearing loss can significantly impact one’s quality of life.  It has been associated with other health conditions such as depression, anxiety, dementia and an increased risk for falls.  It stands to reason that with all of these associated healthcare risks raising the overall healthcare costs for a consumer, making hearing aids more accessible and affordable should be a priority. HEARING AIDS ARE NOTHING NEW: Hearing aids were first introduced at the turn of the century and became common-place in the 1920s.  Their technology rapidly evolved from transistor-style, to microprocessors, to microcomputers and digital sound processing.  All the while, they’ve been trying to make hearing aids smaller, faster and clearer with improved battery life and connectivity to modern electronic devices.    Hearing aids aren’t just ‘amplifiers’.  They are actual medical devices.  They are intended to treat hearing loss and can be worn either behind or inside the ear.  Hearing aids do not restore hearing to normal levels.  The FDA (Food & Drug Administration) regulates all hearing aids to ensure safety and effectiveness for consumers.  They also ensure that companies who manufacture and sell hearing aids comply with good manufacturing practices.  Selecting a hearing aid is not a simple decision.  Hearing loss is as unique as the individual who has it.  It is important to choose a device that is not only appropriate for your hearing level, but one that is also appropriate for your  lifestyle and personal preferences.     NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: In October 2022, the FDA established a new category of hearing aids with the hopes of increasing public access to hearing aid technology and improving the affordability of hearing aids for the general public.  This new category would be known as “OTC (over-the-counter) hearing aids”.  It is intended for adults (18 and over) with perceived mild-to-moderate hearing loss.  Before this time, hearing aids were only dispensed by medical professionals in a clinical setting.  With OTCs, the consumer can now choose to pursue hearing aids without visiting a medical office and they have control of the hearing aids themselves, either via an on-board volume control or a mobile app on their smartphone.  OTCs are truly intended for users with mild to moderate hearing loss.  If a user has a severe to profound hearing loss, it is recommended that they consult with a licensed hearing health care provider because OTC hearing aids are not able to provide adequate benefit for those levels of hearing impairment.  OTCs are not a replacement for traditional, prescriptive hearing aids, but are an alternative to them, for the proper candidate.  Both prescriptive and OTC hearing aids help users to be better able to listen, communicate and participate in daily activities.  It takes time and practice to get used to hearing aids.  No matter what option you pursue, you should wear them regularly to become familiar with them and to train the brain to hear through amplification.           THE OTHER GUYS: You may have seen some products advertised as ‘amplifiers’.  These are also known as PSAPs (personal sound amplification products).  They are not hearing aids.  They are intended for people without documented hearing loss.  They help boost the user’s ability to hear in certain situations (like bird-watching, or TV-viewing), but are not hearing aids.  They are not FDA-regulated and are not intended to treat hearing loss.  Wearables are a body-worn computer, generally used for entertainment purposes.     OTC Hearing Aids Prescriptive Aids PSAPs Wearables Type of Product -Medical device -Electronic device -Medical device -Electronic device -Electronic device -Electronic device Intended User -At least 18 yrs of age -Mild to moderate HL -All Ages -Any degree of HL -Normal Hearing -Anyone Description -No doctor visit or prescription required -User-controlled (via onboard volume or mobile app) -Healthcare provider ‘assistance’ available   -Prescription Fit -Healthcare Provider treats the hearing loss -All-inclusive hearing healthcare approach -Not intended for treating underlying hearing loss -Improve hearing in specific situations (hunting, TV-viewing, lectures, etc.) -Body-worn computer -Improve hearing for entertainment purposes (ie: AppleAirPods) FDA regulated -Yes -Yes -No -No Selfcare vs. Healthcare Provided -SelfCare (adequate tech-savviness)   -Healthcare Provider (professional treatment) -Selfcare -Selfcare   Decision-making in regards to your healthcare should not be taken lightly.  Do your due diligence.  Research and trust your instincts.  Ensure you have the proper information in regards to what is and to what is not an actual hearing aid.  Before you pursue OTCs, ensure you are an ideal candidate.  When in doubt, visit your local hearing healthcare provider for guidance.  But ultimately, do not put off treating your underlying hearing loss.  There are many options available to ensure you are living your best life and not missing out on a thing. How Can You Keep Your Hearing Aid Dry and Functional? Uncover Pro Tips Now

How Can You Keep Your Hearing Aid Dry and Functional? Uncover Pro Tips Now

Hearing aids are incredible devices that open up a world of sounds for individuals with hearing loss. To ensure their longevity and optimal functionality, it's crucial to take good care of them, especially when it comes to moisture exposure. In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore expert tips on keeping your hearing aid dry and functional. Along the way, we'll introduce the ELEHEAR Alpha Pro, a cutting-edge device designed to provide an exceptional auditory experience while incorporating features that contribute to its durability in various conditions. Unveiling the Pro Tips for Dry and Functional Hearing Aids Invest in a Hearing Aid Dehumidifier: Moisture is one of the primary enemies of hearing aids. Investing in a hearing aid dehumidifier is a wise step to keep them dry. These small, electronic devices are designed to absorb excess moisture and can be placed in them overnight, ensuring a dry environment. Regular use of a dehumidifier can significantly extend the lifespan of your hearing aids. Use a Hearing Aid Dry Box: Similar to a dehumidifier, a hearing aid dry box provides a controlled environment to remove moisture. These boxes often use desiccants or UV light to absorb and eliminate dampness. Placing your hearing aids in a dry box overnight is a simple yet effective way to prevent moisture-related issues and maintain their functionality. Avoid Exposure to Extreme Conditions: Hearing aids are sensitive electronic devices, and exposure to extreme conditions can impact their performance. Avoid leaving your hearing aids in direct sunlight or extreme heat, as this can lead to internal damage. Similarly, prevent exposure to extremely cold temperatures, which can affect the battery life and overall functionality of the device. Utilize Hearing Aid Sweatbands: If you lead an active lifestyle that involves sweating, consider using hearing aid sweatbands. These accessories are designed to absorb sweat and protect your hearing aids from moisture during physical activities. Sweatbands are particularly beneficial for individuals who engage in sports or regular exercise. Choose Water-Resistant or Waterproof Models: When selecting hearing aids, consider models that are water-resistant or waterproof. While not completely immune to moisture, these devices are designed to withstand exposure to light rain, sweat, or other mild moisture sources. This added protection can be especially valuable for those who live in humid climates or lead active lifestyles. Remove Hearing Aids Before Showering or Swimming: While some models are water-resistant, it's generally advisable to remove your hearing aids before showering or swimming. Water exposure in these environments can be more intense and might compromise the internal components. Keeping your hearing aids dry during water-related activities is a proactive measure to prevent potential damage. Clean Hearing Aids Regularly: Regular cleaning is essential to prevent the buildup of debris and moisture in and around your hearing aids. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior, and use a cleaning tool or brush to remove wax or debris from the microphone and sound outlet. Cleaning your hearing aids regularly contributes to their overall functionality and lifespan. Introducing ELEHEAR Alpha Pro: Elevating Your Hearing Experience Now, let's explore how the ELEHEAR Alpha Pro incorporates advanced features to not only enhance your auditory experience but also ensure durability in various conditions. Your Go-To Guide: 5 Tips to Easily Remove Water from Your Ears

Your Go-To Guide: 5 Tips to Easily Remove Water from Your Ears

You may have been doing it wrong your whole life. Eliminate water from the ear with these simple tricks.Having some water in the ears is a very common situation that we have all suffered at some point. It must often happened when you get out of the shower, or after bathing in the pool or on the beach, traces of water may remain in the ear , which can be quite annoying.Surely, in these cases, you have been told about the trick of shaking your head or jumping so that the water that has gotten into your ear comes out. Maybe you don't know that you were doing it wrong, at least that's what a latest study by several researchers indicates. Experiencing the discomfort of waterlogged ears or dealing with a stubborn wax plug can be quite bothersome. At ELEHEAR, we're here to guide you on safely alleviating water from your ears. Just adhere to these 6 simple steps, ensuring a gentle and effective approach without causing harm to your ears. Avoid Jumping or Shaking Your Head This movement can harm the health of your ear and brain due to the acceleration forces involved in the expulsion of water from the human ear canal, as confirmed by the study that we mentioned at the beginning of this article. How can you then remove the water? Wait for the water to disappear due to the force of gravity in a few hours. Also try lying on your side or moving your earlobe so that the water is expelled out of the ear. Dry the ear using a towel Gently use a towel to facilitate the evaporation of water in the ear. After a shower, it's advisable to clean your ears with a towel, avoiding the use of cotton buds since they are not recommended for ear cleaning. Keep in mind that the ear is a self-cleaning organ, and the only necessary action is to gently dry it with a towel. Yawn and chew This simple solution often proves effective in many cases. If water becomes trapped in the Eustachian tube, moving the mouth through yawning or chewing gum can help mobilize the area and expel the liquid from the ears. The Valsalva maneuver It is a simple maneuver that, if done carefully and conscientiously, can help us eliminate water from our ears. You just have to follow these steps: Inhale deeply Be silent (Close your mouth) Gently pinch your nostrils using your thumb and index finger. Exhale slowly through your nose. Water vapor High temperature water vapor can expel the liquid inside your ear. So a hot shower that generates enough steam or, better yet, a sauna at the gym can help you solve the problem. You can also make the classic steams that are also recommended to unclog nasal congestion: Fill a container with hot water and place your face on top while covering yourself with a towel so that the steam does not escape. After about 5 minutes, try tilting your head to see if the liquid flows out and you get rid of the problem. In conclusion, banish bothersome water in your ears with these smart and safe tricks. No head shaking needed! Opt for gravity, towel drying, or even a satisfying yawn. The Valsalva maneuver adds a careful touch, while warm vapor or a sauna session can steam away the issue. Try these easy tips for a quick and gentle solution to waterlogged ears! If you face more hearing issues, you can contact our professional customer service anytime and try our product ELEHEAR ALPHA PRO OTC hearing aids for only three weeks to have a better hearing experience.

Discover the Secret: Is Wearing Hearing Aids 24/7 the Key to Optimal Hearing Health?

Discover the Secret: Is Wearing Hearing Aids 24/7 the Key to Optimal Hearing Health?

Hearing health is a vital component of our overall well-being, influencing how we communicate, engage with the world, and enjoy life's sounds. For those with hearing loss, the decision to wear hearing aids 24/7 raises intriguing questions about the potential benefits for optimal hearing health. In this exploration, we delve into the concept of continuous hearing aid use and unravel the secrets it may hold. Along the way, we'll introduce the ELEHEAR Alpha Pro, a cutting-edge device designed to redefine the auditory experience for individuals with hearing loss. The 24/7 Conundrum: Unraveling the Mystery The Constant Stimulus Theory: Advocates for wearing hearing aids around the clock argue that our auditory system benefits from a consistent stimulus. The brain, much like any other muscle or organ, thrives on regular exercise. Continuous exposure to a range of sounds, including the soft whispers of nature and the bustling noises of urban life, may help maintain the brain's ability to process auditory information efficiently. Adaptation and Auditory Plasticity: Our brains are remarkable in their ability to adapt and rewire themselves—a concept known as neuroplasticity. Continuous wear of hearing aids may facilitate this adaptive process, allowing the brain to adjust to a clearer, more amplified auditory input over time. This adaptation could potentially lead to improved speech recognition, better comprehension in noisy environments, and an overall enhanced auditory experience. Social and Emotional Well-Being: The 24/7 use of hearing aids might contribute to improved social and emotional well-being. By enabling individuals to actively participate in conversations, engage with their surroundings, and enjoy social activities without the strain of hearing loss, wearing hearing aids consistently could lead to a more fulfilling and connected life. Preventing Auditory Deprivation: Auditory deprivation, a condition where the brain becomes less adept at processing sound due to prolonged hearing loss, is a concern for individuals with untreated hearing impairment. Wearing hearing aids consistently may help prevent auditory deprivation by providing the auditory system with the stimulation it needs to remain active and functional. Enhanced Cognitive Function: There is a growing body of research suggesting a link between hearing loss and cognitive decline. By wearing hearing aids continuously, individuals may mitigate cognitive challenges associated with untreated hearing loss. Improved auditory input may positively influence cognitive function, potentially reducing the risk of conditions like dementia. ELEHEAR Alpha Pro: Redefining the 24/7 Experience Now, let's transition to the innovative features of the ELEHEAR Alpha Pro, a device crafted to enhance the hearing experience and address the nuances of continuous wear. AI Noise Reduction for Seamless Listening: The ELEHEAR Alpha Pro incorporates advanced AI Noise Reduction technology, a game-changer for wearers seeking a continuous, clear auditory experience. This feature intelligently filters out background noise, allowing users to focus on the sounds that matter most. Whether in a crowded restaurant or a quiet natural setting, the Alpha Pro ensures optimal listening clarity. APP Adjustment for Personalized Comfort: Recognizing that every individual's hearing needs are unique, the ELEHEAR Alpha Pro offers a personalized experience through its APP Adjustment feature. Wearers can easily customize their listening modes, adjust volume levels, and modify settings to suit specific environments—all at their fingertips via the ELEHEAR App. Bluetooth Connectivity for Modern Lifestyles: Seamless integration into modern lifestyles is a hallmark of the ELEHEAR Alpha Pro. With Bluetooth connectivity, users can wirelessly connect to smartphones and other devices, enhancing the versatility of their hearing aids. Enjoying music, making phone calls, and streaming audio directly through the hearing aids has never been more convenient. Exceptional Sound Quality and Comfort: The ELEHEAR Alpha Pro prioritizes not only exceptional sound quality but also wearer comfort. The ergonomic design ensures a comfortable fit, allowing wearers to embrace continuous use without discomfort. The device's sound reproduction captures the richness and subtleties of the auditory landscape, contributing to a truly immersive experience. Audiologist Support for Ongoing Assistance: Understanding the importance of ongoing support, ELEHEAR goes beyond the device itself by offering audiologist support to its customers. This commitment ensures that wearers have access to professional assistance, guidance, and adjustments as they navigate the continuous use of their hearing aids. The Synergy: Continuous Wear and Cutting-Edge Technology As we unravel the potential benefits of wearing hearing aids 24/7, the synergy with cutting-edge technology becomes evident. Factors such as the degree of hearing loss, lifestyle, and personal preferences will influence this decision. It acts as a resource for guidance on device usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring that users feel confident and informed about their new hearing aids. Memory Boosters: Tips and Guides for Improving Memory with Hearing Loss

Memory Boosters: Tips and Guides for Improving Memory with Hearing Loss

Have you ever heard about auditory memory before? This name may not sound familiar to you, but surely this sensory resource has been activated more than once in your life. There is a fact that Hearing loss is always associated with the aging change, and more than just that, there is a clear connection between memory and hearing. Which means memory decline can be one of the initial signs of hearing impairment. As hearing difficulties develop gradually, you may notice forgetfulness before being aware of changes in your hearing. Protecting your hearing is crucial for maintaining memory and cognitive sharpness, especially in old age. Understanding how memory works, how aging and hearing loss affect memory, and what measures you can take to improve your memory are important. Taking steps to protect your hearing can contribute to maintaining cognitive functions and memory as you age. Regular hearing check-ups, using hearing protection in noisy environments, and adopting a healthy lifestyle can all play a role in preserving both hearing and memory. Through this articles, ELEHEAR going to introduce more about auditory memory and how to improve it. Example of auditory memory To fully understand what auditory memory consists of, we are going to give some examples of what it is for and when it is activated: We are able to remember the name of a person we have just met. It is also responsible for us remembering a phone number or address. We are able to quickly respond to a question whose answer we know, for example in a board game, an oral exam or a contest. Recognize the voices of our close people, for example the voices of our parents, friends, children... How can we improve memory? Some people who suffer from a deficit in this type of memory may have academic or social problems, especially when we are talking about children. It can also happen that echoic memory is diminished in situations of great stress or when we are resting poorly or with many worries. However, there are exercises for auditory memory that we can do to improve it. Exercises The brain has a great plastic capacity, so it is possible to improve language and comprehension through auditory memory exercises . Stimulating auditory sequential memory through games is not difficult and is usually quite entertaining. If it is done in a group, a series of symbols or photographs are placed in plain view, a circle is made with the participants and they must pass the ball to each other. The person who receives it must name one of the images and pass the ball to another player, who must repeat the previous word and a new one, to pass the ball again to another member. Thus, little by little, the difficulty increases. If the work is not done in a group, the same can be done with two people and without the need to pass any object. Another exercise or game to stimulate auditory memory is to do bingo with pictograms. All these types of exercises are focused on being able to relate representations of an object with its name, within them many variants can be done. Activities On a daily basis, activities for auditory memory can also be carried out, such as naming the objects that we are using, or trying to do series like those we have mentioned in the previous exercises. It is not necessary to dedicate a lot of time to it every day, but consistency is important. Protect your ears to improve auditory memory If memory loss is attributed to poor hearing, consulting a hearing health professional for a thorough hearing test and suitable treatment can be beneficial. Wearing ELEHEAR OTC hearing aids can improve your hearing function, reducing cognitive overload. With improved hearing, the brain no longer has to exert extra effort to overcome the challenges of listening, leading to more efficient processing of information. This, in turn, facilitates better storage of information in your memory, making it readily available for recall when needed. Now, we present a Christmas sale offer to you, eliminating the need for concern so that you can experience improved hearing and memory.

The Cost Conundrum: Understanding the Price Tag of Hearing Aids

The Cost Conundrum: Understanding the Price Tag of Hearing Aids

Hearing aids, while transformative for individuals with hearing loss, often come with a significant price tag, creating a barrier for many in need of auditory assistance. The intricate technology, customization, and ongoing support contribute to the high costs associated with traditional hearing aids. However, in the face of this cost conundrum, ELEHEAR has taken on the challenge to make hearing aids more accessible and affordable. The ELEHEAR Alpha Pro, a state-of-the-art device, stands as a testament to their commitment to providing top-tier auditory technology without breaking the bank. The High Cost of Hearing Aids The journey to better hearing often comes with a hefty price tag. Traditional hearing aids can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars, a significant investment that not all individuals with hearing loss can comfortably make. The reasons behind the high cost of hearing aids are multifaceted:  Technological Advancements Hearing aid technology has seen remarkable advancements in recent years. Features like AI Noise Reduction, Bluetooth connectivity, and customizable settings contribute to the overall effectiveness of hearing aids. However, incorporating these advanced technologies adds to the production costs, making high-tech hearing aids more expensive. Customization and Professional Services Each individual's hearing needs are unique, necessitating a customized approach to fitting and adjusting hearing aids. Professional services, including clinical assessments and ongoing support, contribute to the overall cost of hearing aids. The expertise required for precise customization and fitting is an essential aspect of the hearing aid industry but adds to the financial burden for users. Research and Development Ongoing research and development are crucial for pushing the boundaries of auditory technology. The costs associated with developing innovative features and improving the overall performance of hearing aids are reflected in their final price. While these advancements benefit users, they contribute to the overall cost structure of hearing aids. Regulatory Compliance Hearing aids are subject to stringent regulatory standards to ensure their safety and efficacy. Complying with these regulations adds to the production costs for manufacturers. While these standards are essential for user safety, they contribute to the overall cost of bringing hearing aids to market. ELEHEAR's Approach: Making Hearing Aids Accessible and Affordable In the face of the cost conundrum, ELEHEAR has taken a pioneering approach to make hearing aids more accessible and affordable. The secret of relationship between hearing loss and noise pollution in cities

The secret of relationship between hearing loss and noise pollution in cities

In the hustle and bustle of city life, many are oblivious to the profound impact of noise pollution on our well-being. This article aims to peel back the layers of this concealed relationship, shedding light on the often-overlooked consequences of noise pollution. Noise pollution: a health risk Are you aware of the noise levels that surround you on a daily basis? If you don't know the answer, you're not the only one. Most people accept the noise in their environment as part of their daily lives, but for those of us who live in large cities or work in noisy environments, we must be aware of the risks and try to make changes in our daily lives that help us protect ourselves. our hearing.According to the WHO (World Health Organization), noise pollution causes hearing loss, cognitive impairment, stress, depression and cardiovascular problems. It is generally accepted that 85 decibels (db) is the highest level of "safe" noise exposure. However, recent studies indicate that noise levels above 60 decibels may lead to an increased risk of developing heart disease.Given that the risks of environmental noise are not widely understood by the general public and those responsible for public health policies, the risk of noise pollution goes largely unnoticed in the current health landscape. Therefore, it is necessary to raise awareness among the population so that they understand what implications it has for their health. Noise pollution in cities around the world Cities worldwide are grappling with the pervasive issue of noise pollution, characterized by incessant traffic, blaring sirens, honking horns, and ceaseless construction work. This constant auditory assault, prevalent 24/7, creates an environment of heightened stress for urban dwellers. New York City, a staggering 200,000 noise complaints were filed in 2016, highlighting the magnitude of the problem. Similarly, in London, the noise levels within the tube system soar to as high as 105 decibels. Mimi Hearing Technologies, a pioneering company addressing hearing-related concerns, delved into this global soundscape dilemma. Leveraging data from 200,000 hearing tests, incorporating information from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Sintef, they developed a comprehensive World Hearing Index encompassing 50 cities. The study uncovered a significant 64% positive correlation between hearing loss and noise pollution in cities. This stark connection underscores the critical impact of the urban sonic environment on the health of city dwellers. For those residing in bustling urban centers, the implications are clear – prolonged exposure to high noise levels poses a genuine threat to hearing health. The study suggests that individuals experiencing hearing-related concerns should contemplate relocating to quieter environments. Moving to a more serene part of town or even considering a change of cities could be a proactive step toward preserving auditory well-being.   The loudest jobs Our jobs are an integral part of our daily lives, but some jobs are more demanding on our hearing health than others. One of the noisiest work environments is for airport ground staff. Standing on the tarmac next to an airplane for a full work day means these employees are subjected to sound levels of approximately 140db, which is significantly higher than the recommended maximum of 85db!! Miners and construction workers are also exposed to very high sound levels (up to 120db). Another risky sector is that of musicians. Some research reveals that 4 in 10 musicians have some degree of hearing loss and are exposed to an average sound level of approximately 115db during concerts. Other professionals who are exposed to less healthy sound levels include: military personnel, railroad workers, nightclub waiters, factory workers, and truck drivers. The most effective thing at-risk employees can do is educate themselves on how to limit their exposure to potentially harmful sound levels. As noted above, using noise-cancelling earplugs is an effective way to reduce the level of sound you are exposed to. Get into the habit of carrying earplugs whenever you suspect you may be entering a noisy environment. Conclusion Our environment and work can increase the risk of exposure to high levels of noise pollution, leading to an increased risk of hearing loss. There is a direct relationship between hearing loss and noise pollution in cities, so we must pay attention to the potential risks of living in these types of noisy environments. Additionally, working in certain professions exposes us to unhealthy sound levels that can irreparably damage our hearing. If you live or work in a noisy environment, look for ways to minimize your noise exposure and invest in a pair of noise-reducing earplugs to reduce the level of noise you are exposed to. If you think your hearing has worsened due to exposure to loud noises, get your hearing checked for free at our hearing test online.   For those suffering from hearing loss, ELEHEAR Alpha OTC hearing aids are here to help. In just three weeks, you can enjoy a better hearing experience. Stay tuned for upcoming information and discounts as we will provide timely updates here.

What You Need to Know: Types of Hearing Loss and Effective Treatments

What You Need to Know: Types of Hearing Loss and Effective Treatments

Listening to a song can bring us nostalgia for the past, recognizing a familiar voice gives us feelings of joy, and the sudden sound of an alarm puts our five senses on alert. Just as we say that the eyes are the windows of the soul, could we then affirm that the ears are its doors? What if my ear have hearing loss? When it comes to hearing loss, the type often depends on the affected part of the ear and the extent of the impairment. Explore what conductive hearing loss, sensorineural hearing loss, and mixed hearing loss entail, and discover effective treatment approaches.  Levels of Hearing Loss The extent of a person's hearing loss is categorized as mild, moderate, severe, or profound, determined by the decibels Hearing Level (dBHL) they can perceive. Explore the nuances of these degrees to better understand the range of auditory impairments. Type of hearing loss Hearing capacity Normal hearing Can hear soft sounds above 20 dB HL Mild hearing loss Individuals with mild hearing loss face minimal issues during face-to-face conversations. However, in noisy environments, understanding certain words becomes challenging. Technically defined as hearing loss in the speech frequency range between 20 to 35 dB. Moderate hearing loss At this level, speakers are often asked to repeat themselves with frequent instances of "What?" or "Pardon?" in both face-to-face and telephone conversations. Those with moderate hearing loss cannot hear sounds below 35 to 50 decibels. Severe hearing loss Severe hearing loss manifests when one struggles to comprehend spoken words without wearing hearing aids, often relying on lip-reading for understanding. Individuals at this level cannot hear sounds below 50 to 65 decibels. Profound hearing loss Those with profound hearing loss can only perceive loud conversations and may find it challenging to understand even with hearing aids or cochlear implants. Communication through sign language may be preferred. People with this level of hearing loss cannot hear sounds below 80 decibels.   To better understand the degrees of hearing, here are some examples of sounds in decibels that we hear in everyday life and that can affect hearing.   Types of hearing loss We can distinguish between several types of hearing loss depending on the location of the lesion: Conductive hearing loss where obstacles disrupt the transmission of sound waves to the inner ear through the outer and middle ears. This can be simulated by merely covering your ear. Causes of Conductive Hearing Loss Middle ear infections (otitis media) Benign tumors (cholesteatomas) Perforated eardrums, trauma, and malformations of the middle and outer ear. Fluid accumulation or abnormal bone growth, leading to temporary or permanent hearing loss. Symptoms Speech may be intelligible, especially at higher volumes and in quieter environments. Conventional hearing aids can provide some assistance, although they may not always suffice. Solutions Hearing aids or hearing implants can amplify acoustic signals, allowing sound to bypass the obstructed middle ear. However, for moderate or advanced cases, hearing aids might not be the optimal solution. Additionally, individuals with malformations in the external ear may face limitations in using these devices. Explore the diverse solutions available to address conductive hearing loss and enhance auditory experiences.  Sensorineural hearing loss The term sensorineural hearing loss describes two different problems: sensory loss involving the inner ear and neural loss involving the auditory nerve. Causes of sensorineural hearing loss Congenital Hearing Loss: Present from birth, it can be inherited or result from abnormal fetal development during gestation. Acquired Hearing Loss: Develops after birth and may result from various factors, including trauma, presbycusis (age-related hearing loss), chronic exposure to loud noises, Meniere's syndrome, meningitis, ototoxic medications, or tumors in the auditory nerve. Symptoms Difficulty understanding speech, even when adequately loud, for those with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Problems locating the source of sounds or hearing in background noise for those with unilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Solutions Treatment for sensorineural hearing loss depends on severity and whether it affects one or both ears. Hearing Aids Effective for mild to moderate sensorineural hearing loss in one or both ears. Amplify sounds, making them louder, though not necessarily clearer. Distorted sound perception may occur if the inner ear is severely damaged. Understanding the nuances of sensorineural hearing loss aids in tailoring solutions to individual needs and enhancing overall auditory experiences. Mixed hearing loss Mixed hearing loss is a combination of conductive hearing loss and sensorineural hearing loss, which means that there is damage to both the outer or middle ear and the inner ear. For people with mixed hearing loss, sounds may be both lower in volume and harder to understand. Causes of mixed hearing loss The causes will be due to the conditions of conductive hearing loss and sensorineural hearing loss. Birth defects, diseases, infections, tumors or masses and head injuries can cause hearing loss, both conductive and sensorineural. Overexposure to loud noise Aging Symptoms If the hearing loss is mostly conductive , speech tends to sound intelligible, but only when the volume is high enough and there is not too much background noise. If the hearing loss is mostly sensorineural , it may be difficult to understand speech, even when it appears to be loud enough. Solutions for mixed hearing loss Depending on the degrees and composition of mixed hearing loss, it can be treated with medication, surgery, hearing aids, or an implantable bone conduction hearing system. All the Early Signs to Help You Realize Your Hearing Loss

All the Early Signs to Help You Realize Your Hearing Loss

Contrary to common belief, hearing impairment doesn't exclusively affect the elderly; it can manifest at any stage of life due to various factors. Under certain circumstances, our auditory system may deteriorate, leading to the serious outcome of deafness. The signs of hearing loss may emerge gradually, starting as subtle isolations, or they can be overt and sudden. Frequently, the frustration of not hearing accurately can evoke feelings of social rejection, depression, isolation, or loneliness. Paradoxically, attempting to cope with the issue can exacerbate mental health problems. This underscores the importance of identifying the initial signs and symptoms promptly, as it is crucial in halting or mitigating the progression of hearing loss. Discovering Hearing Loss: 15 Indications You Shouldn't Ignore Loss of Natural Sounds: If the sounds of nature, like birdsong or the murmur of a river, escape your perception, it may signal hearing loss. Difficulty with Higher Pitches: Struggling to hear higher frequencies, including female voices and certain sounds, could indicate a decline in hearing. Elevated Volume Levels: People around you may notice you setting the TV or radio at a high volume, pointing to potential hearing impairment. Missed Doorbell or Phone Calls: Not hearing doorbells, door knocks, or phone rings may indicate a hearing problem. Phone Conversation Challenges: Struggling to hear during phone calls, perceiving voices as distant, is a common issue for those with hearing loss. Difficulty in Noisy Environments: Despite efforts, participating in conversations in loud places like restaurants becomes challenging due to hearing difficulties. Struggle in Group Conversations: Difficulty following discussions in groups where multiple people talk simultaneously suggests an issue with hearing. Headaches from Straining: Frequent headaches may result from the effort expended in trying to catch every conversation and sound. Misunderstandings at Work: Feeling like a game of "broken telephone" at work, where you interpret things differently from your colleagues, could be due to hearing loss. Perceiving Poor Pronunciation: Thinking others don't pronounce well, especially in a generalized manner, is often a symptom of hearing impairment. Social Withdrawal: Inability to participate in conversations during social gatherings due to hearing loss can lead to social isolation. Frustration Over Challenges: Experiencing frustration from any of these symptoms highlights the impact of hearing loss on daily life.
